Dear Guests,

How fantastic to see so many of you again and how wonderful to spot so many new faces in our midst! The Grand Hotel has changed ever so much since I left to explore the world and I think it will take an awful lot of getting used to! Luckily my friends are here to help me and I can’t wait to hear all of the news!

It’s been so strange to be back walking the halls and manning the front desk. I can hardly remember the last time I wore a coat and tails! Anyway I’m quite forgetting myself, so much excitement. I have to make a conscious effort not to wander off into a daydream where I’m back in Europe scaling mountains or swimming off the coast of beautiful Australian beaches or, oh dear.

Ahem! Must be professional! Can’t say I miss the travelling life altogether anyway – cramped sleeping and toxic insects! Nothing like the luxurious halls of the Grand Hotel!

Now that I am worldly-wise I have a lot of wisdom to pass on to the younger house-keeping staff here at the hotel. I have been training up some of the young rascals and they can be very challenging! They are always in high spirits, playing tricks on me and running in the foyer – that’s practically sinful behaviour and very embarrassing for me what with being in charge of them and all. Sometimes it’s more like babysitting than providing professional service!

They can be very cruel too! They locked me in the linen closet and I had to cry for help until one of the maids let me out. I was very angry about that, very angry indeed! I had to go home and drink rather a lot of the wine I bought home from Australia just to calm my shattered nerves! I never liked that stuffy closet.

Of course, I can remember when I took up the profession and I was just as bad; always shrieking and yelling, my shirt untucked and my hair a mess. As a matter of fact, ah I remember when I had hair!

The ladies and gentlemen here at the Hotel have told me so much good news! There have been some hefty wins and some unbelievable jackpots. I can’t believe I’ve missed out on so many!

Shall we visit the casino? Gosh I think I can feel a streak of good luck coming on!
